I go by Finn, and I'm a 19 year old hobby artist who dabbles in plenty of mediums, the most noteworthy of which are digital art and writing. Rarely asked questions and answers
What do I use to draw/edit?For hardware, my Gen 9 IPad, mostly, accompanied by an apple pen. Though I own a tablet and laptop, I haven’t gotten my head around those well enough yet.
For softwares, I primarily use Procreate to draw and ToonSquid as well as Procreate Dreams to animate (ToonSquid is better, and cheaper). I also occasionally use ibisPaint X and Alight Motion.
For editing videos, I tend to use Premiere Rush, but I'm still finding my footing. Which programs I used is always noted in the description of my YouTube videos.
Why “Scatterrbrained”?Around the time I was trying to come up with a new username, I was also trying to get an ADHD diagnosis. I was also somewhat insecure about the fact that I was jumping fandoms a lot, a figured that making it part of the “brand” would help ease that.
Simply “scatterbrained” was already taken by someone, so I needed to change something. I was watching a lot of GoodTimesWithScar at the time (still am) and the way he pronounces “scarred” in his outros — “-scarrrred for life!” — inspired the two Rs.
Why do I go by “Finn”?It’s not my real name. I’ve always been big on internet safety, so naturally I didn’t want my actual name out there, especially not as a kid. I’ve gone by a few different ones early on, but non that quite stuck like Finn did.
Finn does go back to, like, 2021 or 2022. The DreamSMP days. Yes, yes, war flashbacks, whatever. I had a phase where I watched Foolish Gamers a lot, and he named his little totem daughter “Finn” (short for Finnley) and I thought, “hm. I could steal that”, and so I did.
The fact that ocean ended up being my whole branding really was just a happy coincidence.
Why an ocean theme?I’m not actually the biggest fan of water. I don’t like swimming and would rather avoid boats. Still, the ocean is very sentimental to me. I grew up in a costal town, and the story I spent the entirety of my teens working on originated as a story about mermaids. It’s not anymore, but it still features sailors and lighthouse keepers (and is where my steady obsession with lighthouses originated). I also used to take part in mermay for a couple years, until I realised timely drawing challenges aren’t for me. It was a good time.
I didn’t think about any of that when I made my profile picture, though. I was going through a phase where I REALLY loved the colour combination of blue and orange (which, honestly also probably has its roots in that one story, come to think of it). It was all I drew for a few weeks at least. The fish drawing happened to really pop off, and also happened to be the perfect shape for a profile picture. So I made it mine. Surprisingly enough, I never felt the need to change it. And now I’ve had it long enough that it just feels like a part of me.
So, really, I based the theme around that. Everything else just ended up working out.
What are some of my favourite things?My favourite colour is blue, my favourite book is Frankenstein, my favourite movie is Prince of Egypt, my favourite TV series is Steven Universe, my favourite musical is Hadestown, my favourite singer is Hozier, my favourite band is The Crane Wives, my favourite video game is Pentiment and my favourite webcomic is Lackadaisy! Uhh, and my favourite type of cloud is polar stratopheric.

The Tudurish Tragedy
The Tudurish Tragedy is a written story I have been working on since 2019. In that time, I have reworked it plenty of times, which means it's still far from finished. I have worked through many different ittirations of the story, and have ended up on a path I'm really happy with! This is the story mentioned in my "about me" section!The entire story spans across multiple decades and takes place in a fantasy world loosely based on our own (with prominent artistic liberties). It primarily follows the fall of the kingdom of Tudurijk. It does so from a distance, through stories (in-universe) inspired by (in-universe) historical events and gossip.This universe consists of multiple stories, but the main story is (in-universe) composed by Charlie Blumewald, the grandson of Amalia Blumewald (a major character in the primary story). He, after having uncovered a clue to near state-destorying secrets, decides to dig deeper and attempt to retell history as he has found it to be, in opposition to what he has been taught. This leads him to tell the story of what really happened to the famously dead princess Marina of Tudurijk, as well as unravelling his own family tree and its legacy.Other stories feature both prequels and sequels. I have a couple planned, and even more are being considered. Here are some:
A dramatised story in three parts following the life of Queen Lareina, Marina's mother, from birth to (near) death.
A story following her husband, King Jonathan, told directly through the eyes of his best friend. They follow roughly the same events as Lareina's story, but from a very different perspective.
A story following Marina's older sister, Queen Nerida, and the mother of Choralina Davani Ellis, years after the disappearance of the two girls. It more closely follows the fall of the nation, as well as the late-stage deteriation of these two grieving women. Much yummy parallels to be had for sure,,
My ultimate hope for this project is to eventually share these stories. This will probably be on ao3, as I find it unlikely they will ever get published (and I don’t necessarily want that for these stories). This is, technically, one of my oldest projects. I made the original versions of these characters in 2019, though the plot, storytelling and characters have dramatically changed since then. It was a recent idea that I would tell this story through a comic, but it fits the story very well.
The story follows three characters: Miryam and Sam Arakel, who both struggle with their parents absense in different ways, and their mysterious acquaintance who hides her identity behind holograms.
Miryam gets tangled up with a criminal group in the preparation of an upcoming heist. This strains her relationship with her brother somewhat, as her criminal involvment puts a target on their backs which he feels responsible to protect her from.
At the same time, a runaway is doing her best to avoid trouble and build a stable life far removed from her past. Unfortunately, troubles seems to have a way to find her. As do the sibling duo, who keeps crossing her path at every possible place.
I am currently in the process of writing the script, which I hope to finish during the first half of 2026. After that, I will begin to work on the comic itself. I will most likely be posting it on tumblr, but may also post it to other sites if there’s demand or if I reckon it‘ll be worth it.
